I don’t know about all of you, but I know that once Halloween is
over, my mind goes straight into Christmas mode, and I basically forget about Thanksgiving
until the night before when I’m up to my elbows in flour and sprinkles for
various baked goods. But seriously, how could I overlook a day of good food,
family and most importantly, giving thanks for the wonderful things that have
happened during the past year. And let me tell you—there have been a lot of
things for all of the Casablanca Authors to celebrate!
BESTSELLERS
This year, we had MULITPLE romance and women’s fiction bestsellers
on both the New York Times and USA Today lists. What an incredible
accomplishment on the part of our authors—I know how hard all of you work, and
it is so gratifying to see all of it come to fruition by that lovely bestseller
status:
Grace
Burrowes: New York Times and USA Today for The Heir and The
Soldier
Carolyn
Brown: New York Times and USA Today for Love Drunk Cowboy
Anita
Clenney: New York Times and USA Today for Awaken the Highland Warrior
Georgette

NEW
“THINGS”
Between eBooks and self-publishing, the publishing world as we
know it is ever-changing, and in the coming months, Sourcebooks Casablanca has
some VERY exciting new “things” in the works. Deb and Leah launched our Fall 2012 list last month, and there are some really good books. Additionally, there's something I can’t tell you much about just yet,
but there will be an announcement made soon—something we are all VERY excited about—so get ready!
AND…
ANOTHER CASABLANCA PUBLICIST!
Many of you know this already, but this Fall, we welcomed my
fabulous colleague, Beth Pehlke, to the Casablanca family! She’s been working on
our historical and women’s fiction, but as the romance list has grown, we’ve
moved her over to romance. I’m so excited to work with Beth, and I know between
her and all of us, we’ll make great strides as we continue to grow and develop
and thrive. We’ll do a joint post next month, so everyone can get to know her
better! In the meantime, you can follow her on our fiction imprint Twitter
account: @sbkslandmark.
I
know there’s a lot of things to celebrate that aren’t on my list above, so
share them in the comments! What’s happened this year that you are thankful
for, and want to give a shout out about?
And just for funsies, I’ll giveaway two Casablanca Surprise Packs—one
historical and one paranormal, both with a bunch of books by Casa authors. Because
if there’s one thing we should all be thankful for, it’s books!! US and Canada
only, and leave an email address so I can contact you. I’ll announce winners in
the comments on Monday.
Danielle, thanks for the snapshot of our successes this past year! Really great to see so many Sourcebooks' authors soaring in their careers.
ReplyDeleteIt's trite, or maybe a sign of my time in life, but I continue to be grateful for good health. Without that... nada. I'm grateful for basic freedoms--association, speech, mobility, thought, a good night's sleep, the list is enormous.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there's the unbelievable turn in my road that has seen four books on the shelves in a year. Who would have ever, ever thought... Gratitude just isn't a big enough word to describe what I feel when I dwell on that marvel.
I am grateful to have a job merchandising books. I love books and reading, so it is another way to be exposed to new books and authors, as well as being able to help others discover the same things.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for finding a home at I Smell Sheep! My review blog :) and for my family's health. Some were not so fortunate this year. And I can't forget The movie Thor! ;) have you seen that man's hammer?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Danielle, for being such a great publicist! I'm thrilled to be part of the Sourcebooks family and looking forward to another release in Dec, March, and two at the end of the year!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that my children will get to see three sets of grandparents and two great-grandparents this year. It's going to be great, seeing everyone's faces at Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteNow, if I can just finish this first draft before next week, I might be able to relax. =)
I am so Grateful for my husband of 23 years!, he is an awesome guy!I am grateful that I love to read and have been blessed to be able to spend time reading and that I live where I can read anything I like without persecution!
ReplyDeletej1man1r66@etex.net
Congratulations to all the authors. This is very exciting news.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for my family, my health and my friends. I'm thankful that I still have plenty of stories left to write and an editor and agent that believe in me. I'm thankful to be a woman in the 21st century, though there are days I wonder.
My birthday is tomorrow and I'm thankful I've made it this far. :-)
Awesome year Sourcebooks. Keep it up!
I am thankful for everyday and if it brings a smile or giggle snort all the better. If that day should include family and friends then it is just abut perfect. Loved the post and all of the success especially in these changing times. Poofbooks [@] gmail [com]
ReplyDeleteCongratulations everyone on all the great accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for my loving family, my good health, and having a job.

ReplyDeleteAs for me, I'm personally thankful for this year of fun in New York City, my family and friends and all the books that have made me laugh, cry and sigh.

ReplyDeleteToday I'm grateful for Danielle Jackson!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations everyone! So many things to celebrate!!! I'm daily grateful to be part of the Casablanca family!
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for my terrific husband and family. And I'm grateful that Danielle has a helper now in the romance promotions department! You've never, ever slipped, but I've always wondered how you manage to do all you do.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for my family, my job, and books. My husband and kids are fairly self-sufficient and it means that I can work. My job is to coordinate health care for residents of an assisted living. It is challenging and I love it. Books help me relax at the end of my day so I can take my mind off of difficulties and start the next day feeling like I had a real break. Books are my mini-vacations.

I am thankful for the people in my life. Especially my family. They love me unconditionally, support me and encourage me. My positive attitude has been shaped largely by the values they taught me. We all have ups and downs but they are the one that stand by me. It doesn't hurt that my mom can cook up at storm!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for books and authors who create such amazing stories. Characters become like real friends and some worlds I want to keep visiting over and over. It's opened my eyes to so many new things and I've embarked on many adventures. Thank you as well to the editors and publishers who let these stories come out into the world.

I'm looking forward to all the new books coming out. It's been a hard year but one of the highlights was my mom turning 89 and is still in good heath and another is that my youngest graduated from college. I'm looking forward to next year with the chance of wonderful possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI am really thankful for my family they are there when I need them. Also very thankful for my books they are what keeps me going from day to day and you lovely authors that make my day.

I'm thankful that the Casa Babes are so dedicated to writing; seeing as I looove their novels.
ReplyDeleteI'm equally thankful for: libraries, book stores, coffee shops, my family, especially my children's ability to make me laugh, Saturdays/Sundays, friends, education, and OUR MILITARY. `Course, there's always an infinite amount of things to add, but those sprang to mind quicker.
I'm grateful I got to travel with my mom to visit my grandmother and staying healthy. I also got to spend some time with my cousin during road trip to Toronto.
